I love a bit of Creedence, and American Werewolf in London. My son used to use the pause button to slow down the bit where a head comes off and rolls onto the front of a car. It delighted him no end, it probably still would.
Honen, a Japanese Buddhist from many centuries ago wrote this lovely verse –
There is no place the moon does not shine,
But it only illuminates
in the heart of those who gaze at it.
I was waiting at a tram stop a few years ago and I looked up and saw at one end of the street this glorious sunset and at the other this beautiful moon. And I wanted to shout and point to everyone look! look! the moon, the moon! But I didn’t….
Busy tram stop at dusk
Caught between the moon
high in the eastern sky,
and a red sunset,
obscured by a glory of cloud –
I stand, astonished and alone.
Thank you Ray, for both Honen’s verse and for your lovely poem. I am incredibly touched that you shared it with us. I would have wanted to jump up and down too :)
Thanks, Joanna!
\This made my evening bright! Love the moon- and CCC!
The moon from my deck isn’t so moody- we have high winds that keep the clouds skittering away- although the trees are swaying in a rather aggressive fashion!
That’s very sweet of you – l crave being able to do big moon shots showing the craters, but the little camera says it’s hard enough trying to focus on the moon. It whirrs and makes little fuzzy noises and then says ‘oooh, I think I’ve got it’ and I press the shutter and hope for the best. I didn’t adjust these at all so they are very dark… x

Loved the photos – very atmospheric. I also loved that film and I am not usually good with scary films but that one was – dare one say, fun?
Credence Clearwater Revival – my goodness that really takes me back – I used to love singing along to that one – with the volume turned up very loud.
That song is going to be in my head all day now.. ;-)
It’s the theme for An American Werewolf in London too…. ;)
Count me on the ear worm too… ;-)
Heh :D
isn’t it beautiful tonight? the moon looks so large being so near the horizon… i couldn’t take my eyes off it on the tram journey home tonight….
So beautiful I agree :)
Extraordinary shots. Wow.
Through the study window – scared to go out ;)

Keep off the Moors and stick to the Road ;)
Gorgeous moon, gorgeous pictures!
I guess the moon is something we all share :)

Just a moment in time and now it’s gone already… Hope the winds calm down for your trip Heidi!
Love your pictures – stunning. Even I noticed the moon tonight, and I’m not usually that observant!
It was one of those moonlit nights wasn’t it? Extra bright :)
I wish I had a dollar for every time I heard that song played. We had a beautiful full moon here in Sydney last night.
Celia’s been telling me about the floods, hope you’re OK.
great shots, i can never do moon images. You got it exactly right. And yes that moon has atmosphere! c

Thanks Joanna – lots of happy memories.
Thanks Elaine, I hope you didn’t suffer with the ear worm too :)
There was a beautiful moon here last night; looked lovely shining on the water as I crossed the river last night.
Wow, a double moon moment, that sounds very special :)
