This one is basically the Hamelman Light Caraway Rye Bread, except I messed around a bit and used an all white starter, and added the rye flour in with the main flour and a bit of something nameless in a tub…..
…and as this is in almost ‘real time’… here is lunch (a very late lunch) and look, oh no, is it really? Oh yes it is, it’s sunshine!
Whatever you made it from it looks great! Welcome back, you’ve been missed.
Thanks Jeannette, hope you’re doing OK :)
Good thing Zeb was paying attention!
I’ve missed you, Joanna, so glad to see you back online!
And I totally agree- thank goodness for bread!
Where would I be without that dog? ;) My bread making is more and more random these days, but maybe my hands have finally figured out what my brain can’t.
That looks wonderful, I can almost smell it from here.
Glad you are back.
Thank you Cas! Caraway bread is all about the smell :)
I did the Dan Lepard light rye with caraway recently and loved it, will check out this recipe too.
Will be posting about falafel soon… did we have fun in the kitchen today….
I can’t remember Dan’s at the moment, but I am sure they are all fairly similar. Looking forward to your falafel experiences :)
Oh she’s back, she’s back.. (does a little happy dance).. :)
Lovely bread, dearheart, and clever Zeb for rescuing it! It looks perfect, and how nice to see sunshine brightening your day! Are you using new photo software? Looks like lots of fun.. xxx
The sunshine was like getting multi ball on pinball I have to say. :D The weather has been so very dismal this summer. The collages are just one of the ways iPhoto sends photos by email. Fast and quick and a bit blurry, but I quite like it for a change.
Humm … I don’t do nearly as well when I forget! But then we all remember what a great baker Zeb is.
those little paws are very good at shaping small rolls ;)
When I forget something, the outcome is dark. As in burned beyond recognition…
You did great!
Picture me doing a happy dance next to Celia… ;-)
I didn’t forget it at the baking point, but in the first proving part, the forgiveness of sourdough is a wonderful thing :D
Oh, when I forget something I usually go for the kill…
If it’s the forgiving part, I skip the forgetfulness… ;-)
What beautiful looking fresh bread. Your kitchen must smell amazing. I’m glad to hear you’ve been having some sunshine. I have a sister living in London for a few months and she says it’s been grey skies everyday. I do hope things improve for the Olympics xx
Thanks Charlie ! The rain is back this morning. It is very grey generally. I hope they have good weather for the O’s too :)
How nice to see you again Joanna.
It’s good to be back Rose :)
Welcome back – I’ve missed you! I bet Zeb likes the smell of caraway – what a smart dog!
He usually isn’t too sure about caraway, but yesterday had a little bit to try and chewed away at the crust, with one elegant eyebrow raised ;)
How lovely to see your ‘Dogalogue’ in my mailbox! Superzeb to the rescue, clever little dog.
we exaggerate his talents, though as a hot water bottle he is unsurpassed ;)
nice to see you back
xx tom
nice to chat to you today darling xx
I think of you every week when I make your rye grain bread and wonder how you are.
So pleased to see you back again with some brief but lovely sunshine.
What a lovely thing to read :) I must get back to posting properly soon, all best to you Le Petit P !
oh Joanna, you’ve certainly been missed! Lovely to see your beautiful loaves again.
xxx
sending xxxs back – next project catching up with my favourite bloggers :D
Love the collage-effect. Clever and very craft-ish. Those loaves look fab. I baked bread this weekend, and I now have a nice big, air-tight box of croutons. I tried using a silicon baking sheet for the final prove, and the dough just slid across it and the counter. Had some oven rise but not much. We headed for Waitrose and bought bread. Ho-hum.
It’s a iPhoto/Mail thing, much quicker than trying to do collages in a proper editing programme, but limited in its scope. Nice to hear from you Misky! I have lots of catching up to do :)
B E A U T I F U L bread. Beautiful sun. Beautiful lunch ! All Around Lovely ! We had a great great time in England. I will email you soon (I promise!) it just may be another few weeks!
I hope you got my last email, but I think you were already here. Glad you had a great time :)
I’ve not visited your blog for ages… Lovely photos, gorgeous bread, yum! :-)
Thanks Littleloaf! What an exciting summer you are having – congratulations again :)
