For Brydie and Celia – Rosettas Rock!

Brydie and Celia have been busy downunder making Rosetta rolls and I am joining in here as I got the right press at last from Germany.

This is my first try using a white sourdough, so not the right dough, but I am on the trail now of the right one. Didn’t stop Brian eating four of these last night however.  In the meantime do visit their beautiful blogs and read their Rosetta posts.

Everyday Sourdough

For those of you who are suffering from withdrawal symptoms…

I’m still baking every week, just haven’t baked anything new, sticking to the old favourites of toast bread and sourdough.

This is yesterday’s loaf of my regular sourdough with a little rye flour for flavour and colour.

250 g white starter (25 g active starter, 100 g strong white flour, 125 g water)
75 g rye flour
325 g strong white flour
200 – 220 g water
9 g salt

O is for… Obscure Objects Of Desire

I wrote a post about Fiori di Sicilia a while ago in which my intention was two fold: one to poke fun at myself for wanting all these strange bits of kit to play around with; and secondly to say thank you to Bakery Bits who managed to get hold of nearly all of them.

I am aware that by writing about these objects it probably encourages people to want them too even if I am making fun of myself.

So what do I do ? Do I write about them or do I pretend that I don’t enjoy the searching and thinking about these things, I think I will just continue to write about them, it’s all part of the fun of having baking as an interest after all.

Chocveg asked me if I had pictures of the presses I included in the lame post. So today I made a quick batch of dough and got them out and put them to work, all for you Choc!
